Mary Marr, Founder, President and Director of Administration of Christian Emergency Network (CEN), was called to establish the ministry after being gripped by 911 and surviving several near death experiences personally. Her background having been a successful public school teacher and career education administrator, author of the State of Michigan guidelines for Career Education, her theological studies and experience serving with the staff of a mega-church in Michigan all helped to lay the foundation of the CEN ministry.

In October 2011, Mary lead the charge for the Church to be aware of our times, to be ready spiritually, emotionally, mentally, and physically, and to be there standing strong when crisis come serving those in need by forming CEN and collaborating with ten national ministries.

While living in Michigan she was approached to host a one-hour live Christian radio program produced by the Family Life Radio Network which later became the nationally syndicated daily radio program Outreach Alert heard on over 1000 radio outlets for ten years. Mary continues to use her voice and passion for biblical readiness to inform and rally the Church nationwide. In her role with CEN, she continues to be interviewed on all major Christian radio networks as well as National Public Radio and Janet Parschall's America.

Recognizing the urgent need for the Church to self-organize and mobilize locally, Mary authored three core biblical readiness and response trainings: ReadyChristian, ReadyChurch and ReadyCity. She has authored Lighting the Way, with articles published in Decision magazine, The Lighthouse Devotional, and the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM) publications.

As national CEN Administrator, Mary works closely with a small God-ordained team giving direction as CEN provides a biblical emergency perspective, cutting edge readiness and response training, collaboration during response and resources to local communities nationwide and around the world on a daily basis.

An active member of the Mission America Coalition and National Religious Broadcasters, Mary has worked cooperatively with the Department of Homeland Security Faith-based Office, Department of Homeland Security National Preparedness Campaign, and Homeland Security Advisory Council Task Force on Countering Violent Extremism. Mary contributed to the Department of Homeland Security Institute Faith-based Katrina report and Center for Disease Control faith-based resource.

Sherry Buresh, recently joined CEN (Christian Emergency Network), as the National Logistics Officer, Trainer, and Church Advisor.

Sherry brings with her extensive experience in leading numerous disaster responses, including a 4 ½ month response to Hurricane Katrina.  Her experience in disaster responses includes “on the ground” work, and organizing delivery of emergency in-kind donations.  Her responses have included states from NY to FL and across to MS.  They have included coordinating as many as 300 volunteers at one time, and 696 over a 3 week response, in all aspects required for making a disaster response.

Sherry has Chaired KY Voluntary Organizations Active in Disasters (KyVOAD); a member of the Kentucky Community Crisis Response Team (KCCRT); Board Member of Pathfinder Missions (Hurricane Katrina Recovery Organization).  She has also been an Advisory Committee Member for  Kentucky Outreach Information Network (KOIN);  State ESF#6 (Mass Care) Advisory Committee & Work Group; Ky. Disabilities in Emergencies Advisory Committee; State Specialist & Liaison for the Coordinated Assistance Network (CAN); E. Ky. Weather Service Advisory Member, and a member of various Local Emergency Planning Committees (LEPCs).  

During her 11 years experience in Disaster Relief she has also been a Board Member (2006-2009) for the Kentucky Community Crisis Response Board (KCCRB); a Sub Committee Member (2006) for the National Council on Readiness & Preparedness (NCORP’s) National Task Force Advisory Committee; a Committee Member & Panelist (2007) for the National Congress on Secure Communities, and Chaired (2004/2006) the Eastern KY. Long-Term Recovery Coordinating Committee (EKLTRCC).   

Sherry has had numerous trainings including: NIMS ICS & IS Courses; Mass Care Sheltering; Individual Crisis and Peer Support; Psychosocial Impact of Disasters & Catastrophic Events; Group Crisis Intervention; Mental Health Aspects of Emergencies & Disasters; and Weapons of Mass Destruction/ Terrorism (WMD) Defensive Operations Level.

Sherry and her husband live in Kentucky.  They have 2 sons, 2 daughters, and two granddaughters.

With over twelve years of non-profit, small business, corporate and ministry experience, Misti took a position with Christian Emergency Network (CEN) in 2009 to develop the Christian Emergency Directory. Her responsibilities have grown to include administrative assistant and Director of Communications for CEN.

Misti has a BA in Global Business, a minor in International Relations and Public Policy and an MA in Emergency and Disaster Management. She is a member of the International Association of Emergency Managers (IAEM), AZ Community Emergency Response Training (CERT), a participant on the Executive Committee for AZ Volunteer Organizations Active in Disaster (AZVOAD), and a member of the Washington DC Chapter of Infragard.

Misti has traveled extensively worldwide giving her a worldview of the Christian Emergency Network ministry, including living in a children’s home in Northern Thailand for three years teaching English and computers.

In her role as Director of Communications she is the Public Information Officer for the CEN national team, which serves churches and citywide groups worldwide.

Steve brings his 40-years of broadcast experience in radio and television, thirteen years serving as a Chaplain in the fire service and his passion for ministry to the position of National Public Information Officer for the Christian Emergency Network.

Steve’s career in radio has consisted of programming, including being a news director for two radio stations; station management for three radio stations and community development roles in several radio markets, including Detroit. He currently serves as the Community Transformation Coordinator for Family Life Radio stations in Tucson and Flagstaff, Arizona.

His television experience consisted of four years as an anchorman, reporter, cinematographer and videographer for an NBC affiliate in Lansing, Michigan, which gave him a great understanding of the need for accurate, concise information on the part of the news media during a time of crisis.

Additionally, he and his wife, Cindy, have an International marriage ministry; Marriage Missions International, a web based outreach to couples all over the world to “Reveal and Restore the Heart of Christ in Marriage.”  They’ve conducted marriage training and mentoring workshops in the United States and the Middle East.

Steve was one of the founding Board members for the Christian Emergency Network in 2001 and has served as PIO and Network News Anchor on a number of CEN activations over the past 11 years.


Michael BolerMichael W. Boler

CEN Role: Operations Officer

Michael Boler uses his vast experience in operations systems, business, and faith-based crisis management to serve the needs of the national CEN ministry. Michael is responsible for ensuring support systems are in place for the implementation of the national CEN Emergency Operations Plan during emergencies.

He is also responsible for coordinating with CEN national and state teams, CEN advisors, and CEN security officers in the field to service their operational, technical and marketing needs. Given his background in the military and his years leading the CEN ReadyIndy operation Michael is experienced in working directly with police, fire, medical, public works, and utilities. Michael assists the CEN National Administrator, State Advisors, and affiliated organizations in special development projects.

While serving in the U.S. Navy in the Persian Gulf, Middle East, Africa and the U.S. Michael became a seasoned Operations Specialist in the Combat Information Center specializing in the area of security risk/threat analysis. His radar, sonar, navigation, information gathering, and communications skills learned in the Navy are now put to good use in his role as the national CEN Operations Officer as he may be called upon as CEN Incident Commander during a crisis.

He assists CEN Advisors in living out the CEN Mission in their city or state by providing “lessons learned” from his experience as a CEN Ready trainer. And his best practices, when applied, improve CEN Advisor’s training, services and resources. Michael’s involvement in establishing and leading the Christian Emergency Network’s first state and city wide network ReadyIndy has proven time and again that principles of ministry leadership, lived out in a humble obedient manner honoring of the Lord, are always effective. A dedicated and faithful steward, Michael brings his combined operations, business, crisis management and ministry experience to bear each and every day as he lives out his “calling” in equipping Christians to be ready when trouble strikes to reach out with the Gospel.

Mike Marshall has always had a passion for the lost. At the age of 11, Mike surrendered his life to the Lordship of Jesus Christ and has been faithfully serving Him ever since. Mike's strong background in radio and media operations and his skill with computers have led him to his present leadership position with the Christian Emergency Network as Operations Director.

Beginning in 1992, as operations and technical adviser to several national ministries, he utilized his varied talents, particularly his creativity in designing web sites, maintenance and technical support to advance ministry. His heart for discipleship, combined with his technical abilities is invaluable to those who team with him.

Joining the CEN team in September of 2001, Mike has had an intentional focus on living a biblically ready life combined with applying his technical and operational talents. He enjoys assisting CEN partners to achieve their mission in a variety of ways. Mike resides in Arizona with his wife and 3 children.

As a former Investment Banker on Wall Street, Legislative Aid to a U.S. Congressman on Capitol Hill, MBA from one of the nation’s top business schools, and 10 years as a Management Consultant to Fortune 500 companies, Jim was in the midst of a solid business career.  But through it all, as a Christian, he felt like he needed to be spending more time serving God and helping others.  He searched for opportunities with local churches and Christian charities but struggled to find something that would take advantage of the skills he had to offer.  Then, during the “Dot Com” boom while working as an eBusiness strategist for Internet companies, God turned Jim’s struggle into a personal calling.  Jim realized that the same solutions he was helping companies implement could be used to help others find opportunities to reach out to those in need.  After 10 years of design, development, piloting and testing, Meet The Need is the realization of that vision, providing a unique and innovative way to leverage leading-edge business technology to enable churches, ministries and individuals to reach out to those in need in their local communities or anywhere in the world.

Sandie Sangster has served with the Christian Emergency Network since 2001 as Director of Inspiration.  She believes that, “Worship woven into daily life provides Godly character necessary to survive any crisis”.

With over twenty-five years of experience leading worship, she adds a distinctively inspired worship style to those who share her heart for worship of the one and only God. She has experience leading small and large groups in prayerful praise and worship throughout America and several other countries.  Her most memorable experience came when ministering in song while crossing the Sea of Galilee.  Some say that as a recording artist and vocalist, her tender, instinctive approach to presenting music crosses many generations.

Sandie is the vocalist of CEN’s Together We Will Stand music and scripture CD and author of the compatible devotional which guides those who are in crisis or walking with another who is hurting to find healing and spiritual victory. TWWS combines focusing on God's Word, listening to His music, and biblical principles that bring a transformation of heart, mind and soul. Wisely investing the talents God has given her into the future of her family, and friends cultivated worldwide Sandie uses Romans 15:6 as a guide "Encourage one another to.... join together with one voice, giving praise and glory to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ” is a daily challenge.

Sandie and her husband, Paul, a retired radiologist and frequent consultant for CEN live in Arizona.  They have four children and nine grandchildren.

Steve Marr, former President and CEO of the fourth largest import-export firm in the United States facilitated international trade for many of the largest companies in America. Currently, Steve consults with businesses and ministries utilizing Biblical principles for success in today's marketplace. Steve is the author of Business Proverbs, a devotional guide available in several languages, Integrity in the Workplace, Proverbs for Business, Roadmap to Success, Proverbs for Sales Professionals, and a monthly syndicated business column. He writes a regular feature for Business Reform Magazine and has been published in numerous other publications. His Business Proverbs radio programs were heard daily on 1000 radio outlets for over a decade internationally. Steve has been a featured marketplace speaker at The Billy Graham Center for Evangelism, a guest on the 700 Club, and frequent business contributor to many radio programs.

Steve is the Director of Finance and Logistics for the Christian Emergency Network lending his business acumen and sound biblical application to laying the foundation of the ministry and guiding its progress since its beginning. Steve coaches the CEN national team, consults with ministries and leaders who participate in the network, and is a frequent blogger on the CEN website keeping current news and biblical readiness and response at the forefront of the national ministry. Steve is the husband of CEN Founder and President Mary Marr.
