Who Would YOU CALL?
Hurricane Michael has devastated homes and churches in Florida. If this were Your Church Who Would YOU CALL? CEN National Disaster Response Director Sherry Buresh spoke today with Emergency Manager Rodney Andreasen of Jackson County, FL who expressed desperation about getting CEN
“boots on the ground.” Andreasen said: “It’s like a bomb went off! Trees are down everywhere. Water is okay now, power should be restored soon, and fuel is starting to become available beyond first responders. One lady needed a liver transplant before the Hurricane hit, and now she has a desperate need for her roof to be tarped just to survive today. We URGENTLY need help with debris clean up! How quick can you get here? God Bless you!”
If this were your church or home, you would want Christians to pray, care and share the Gospel in word and deed with you. While you may not be able to go to Florida for a direct on the ground response Will you pray about helping to put a roof on a salvageable home? Or will you support volunteers who are just waiting for funds to help them BE THERE for the massive clean up? This is God’s Opportunity to demonstrate His love.
Are you able to help in the direct clean up efforts in the FL Panhandle?
If an emergency like this were to happen to you are you a:
For Christian survivors to trust in His promise: “We know that God causes ALL things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” Rom. 8:28
For Christian first responders who see so much devastation: “Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him for the help of His presence.” Ps. 42:5
For Seekers to view this trial as God at work: “The LORD is good to those who wait for Him, to the person who seeks Him. It is good that he waits silently for the salvation of the LORD.” Lam. 3:25-26
For Volunteers to serve alongside CEN Responders Sherry and Mike Buresh to the CEN Ready teams in Florida - Volunteer Interest Form
Send a note of gratitude to a first responder. “In everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thess. 5:18
Listen sensitively to those who are displaced due to Hurricane Michael. “Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, and He will do it. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light and your judgment as the noonday. Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him.” Ps. 37:5-7
