DHS Issues NEW National Terrorism Advisory System

Washington, DC  - On January 4, Acting Secretary of The Department of Homeland Security Chad F. Wolf issued a new National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) Bulletin pertaining to the changing threat landscape following the U.S.-led airstrike in Iraq that eliminated Qaseem Soleimani, the head of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force, a U.S.-designated Foreign Terrorist Organization.

“At this time there is no specific, credible threat against the homeland. The Department issued this bulletin to inform, share protective measures, and reassure the American public, state and local governments, and private sector partners that the Department of Homeland Security is actively monitoring and preparing for any specific, credible threat, should one arise” said Acting Secretary Wolf. “The Department is operating with an enhanced posture and various operational components are taking protective measures where prudent and necessary. We have been in constant communication with Congress and interagency partners. The American people should feel assured the entire Department is working for them to keep them safe.”

CEN Founder and President, Mary Marr, and the CEN National Incident Command team are carefully monitoring all information being provided by our federal, state and local partners. Marr said: “With the increasing attention being paid by the secular media to the rise in attacks on the faith community, we are maintaining close communications with all our network partners to insure they are kept current.”

CEN National Safety Security Officer Darryl Walker advises: “When infrastructure warnings are given by DHS, it is time to insure that those who "Keep the Watch" at church stay focused and have their Ministry Continuity plans in place. Join the CEN Network to access the CEN Ministry Continuity Checklist and insure your critical operational infrastructure is protected. For example, do you know your church database is backed up? Don’t just assume someone else has done it!”

At the request of the Acting DHS Secretary, CEN’s President Mary Marr, General John Allen, and subject matter experts from the wider national faith community submitted  recommendations on: “Preventing Targeted Violence Against Faith Communities” to DHS for immediate implementation given escalating attacks on the faith community in the U.S.
