Hurricane Earl is cruising through the Atlantic. Most current forecasts predict only a glancing blow against the U.S. east coast.

When crisis comes, there is nothing worse than someone facing it without someone to comfort them. To pray, care for and share the Hope of Christ becomes a healing balm that we know brings lasting appreciation. Many times the bond between the comforter and the survivor is a long term relationship because they are bound together by the experience of sharing God in the midst of great pain. But what will happen if there is no one to comfort the afflicted?

Let us Love and Pray for the World!

If, "God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life..."  And if, His son who also loved us so much - inspite of our sins and imperfections - that He was willing to make this sacrafice - then why do we (Christians - in His name - for His namesake) not emulate his teachings and practices by living and demonstrating the same love, patience, and tolerance for ALL?  Are we willing to die - not only for Him - but, for others (not just our families)?  Can we phathom sacraficing our egos, personal agendas, and material possessions for the prospect of spiritual totality and eternal life?  Probably not - which is why He did it for us.

However, He did not die on the cross only for us - but for the WORLD!  If we have ever experienced discrimination and exclusiveness (whether victim or perpetrator), it is easily recognizable whenever it appears - however, subtle.  It is a spirit that we will deplore because it is dark - unlike the light of Jesus's love which illuminates beauty and joy.  We cannot have eternal life by our own 'self-righteousness', but, the righteousness and grace of His spirit that should exude from us.  That spirit is love not judgement - love not detestation - love not envy.  Why do we  feel it necessary to 'fight' in His name?  He did not fight - even those who persecuted Him.  He forgave them/us.  We must do the same, for it is written.

Christians, "Love thy neighbor (Christian or not) as thy self."  Jesus wants us to 'love the world'.  He did not specify, only if it pleases or agrees with us.  If His love for us was so conditional, we would surely perish.  Let us love and pray for His World!  He died for it.
